I really love playing doomlings with my husband and friends who really love the game too! We are looking forward for a playmat were we can play with all expansions, trinkets, discard pile, discarded trinkets, unfortunately there is non available at the moment. Keep going guys! I didn’t expect to like Doomlings as much as I did, but it ended up being one of those games I kept wanting to play again. There’s something really fun about building a weird little species and then watching everything fall apart when the apocalypse cards hit, it gets chaotic in the best way. It’s not super strategic, and sometimes it feels like luck decides everything, but that honestly makes it more entertaining instead of frustrating. It’s easy to get into without overthinking anything, which I appreciated. Definitely a solid pick when you want something low-pressure but still really fun.

These cards only hold value when multiple are played. Great way to keep them relevant in the deck. Would be cool to have “pair of kidneys” cards, acting as two kidneys in one. Game ends a little too fast to try to get enough to be worth it still.

After several plays of Doomlings with different groups, I think it’s a game that surprises more than it initially seems. I’ve played it with gamer friends, with family, and even with my daughters, and in every case it has worked really well. It achieves something that’s not easy: it’s simple enough for anyone to learn quickly, while still offering meaningful decisions that make you want to come back to it. At its core, the game is a set collection system with a fair amount of player interaction, but without becoming aggressive or frustrating. There is randomness in the cards you draw, as expected in this type of game, but it doesn’t prevent you from planning, adapting, and building strategies around the traits you collect. You always feel like you have choices to make, which keeps the game engaging from start to finish. Pacing is another strong point. It’s a very fast, almost frantic game where rounds go by quickly and no one gets disengaged. It’s also very easy to teach, which makes it hit the table often, especially with mixed groups or new players. In terms of scalability, it works well at all player counts, although I personally think it shines the most at four players, where the interaction and overall energy really stand out. Visually, it also delivers. Even though it’s just a card game, the artwork has a lot of personality and makes it very appealing on the table. The theme of evolution and chaos is present in the illustrations and card design, but mechanically it’s not a defining element; it works more as a strong aesthetic layer. Compared to other games in the same space like Happy Little Dinosaurs or Unstable Unicorns, Doomlings feels more balanced overall. It’s smoother, less punishing, and more versatile, which helps it perform better across different types of groups. If I had to point out one downside, it would be the lack of a Spanish version.
