Michelangelo Two Bike Gravity Storage Rack

Nice little stand, but for one (1) bike, not two (2). You can store two but it's so much trouble to get the bike up there that it's easier to just not and store the other bike some other way. Also, there's nothing to keep the front time from flopping and then scuffing the wall; seems like such an obvious issue that it should have come with something simple to resolve that problem. The red bike holders move around too easily when trying to get the 2nd bike stored and with the front tire flopping around and trying to keep the two bikes from getting tangled in each other's wheels and handlebars it's just an exercise in frustration. Storing just one bike is much easier. If you can, look for another two bike solution like maybe one of hanging solutions.

Megarack PostPorter

This is a great bike rack. I had been trying for close to a year to find a rack that would fit my 10 yr old daughter's bike (24" wheels). She rides to school every day and needed something to hold her backpack while riding, and her helmet when not. Adding to the challenge, we needed a rack that would be removable, since her bike requires an adaptor and since most racks won't fit on our car rack with four bikes. Not only has this rack fit the bill with it's easily removable quick release, it's just flat out an excellent rack! I was worried that it would slip all the time (it doesn't), or that it wouldn't hold up. It has taken tons of abuse and keeps on toting. The pannier supports on the side will keep it useful for years to come, as she will be able to upgrade from a milk crate to more sophisticated options (should she so choose) as she gets older. Another concern was that it would bend or give out with heavy use. My daughter usually carries less than 10 lbs on it, but when we've done bike camping trips, she's carried at least 20 lbs. This rack handles it easily. I like it so much, I'm buying one for my son's mountain bike for Christmas. I feel very comfortable recommending this rack. It's an excellent product that fills a difficult niche (odd sized bikes, atypical frame designs, no braze-ons on the seatstay for attachment of a rack, etc).

Crossbar Substitute

Great product. Simple design and great price. Worked on a small girls bike all the way to a full sized women's flat foot bike. I measured the minimum distance between the hooks @ 21 inches and with the tubes fully extended @ a maximum of 29 inches. Both rubber hook ends are coated with a high quality rubber material that is thick and will not scratch your bike. The design is simple. Basically you have two tubes that slide in and out of each other and a quick release locking mechanism like you find on the seat post of bikes. Would buy again and suggest to friends.

Michelangelo Two Bike Gravity Storage Rack

This is a great stand. I'm only storing one 20lb road bike on it on the top of the rack. It's super stable. I've tried to get it to fall over (kids dont try that at home) it just bounces back into place. There's a little strap to anchor to the wall...not really "needed" but living in California, I used it just in case theres a little shake and rumble. It comes with 2 sets of hooks for bikes and two small utility hooks (for helmets and things). Took me 3 minutes to assemble and have my bike hanging.

Lockable Bike Hitch

It's simple: You can't beat these for the price. The stand-off spacer on the lever side gives clearance to operate them, which is a nice touch. The lever and the other stationary bar are much beefier than they appear in the picture. Adjustment before locking down is the key with these. You will know if it's too tight while trying to close the lever. If so, just back off the nut a tad and try again. For $15 each you just can't go wrong. I bought three (two or more qualifies for free shipping. free is good!) and mounted them to a 2x6 which I place in the front of the pickup bed. All for less than a single big name mount cost! For the nit-pickers out there, my only complaint is there is no smaller flange for the fork to rest on. It rests right on the skewer's "axle." So making minor adjustments has to be done with the bike's weight resting on the axle. That takes away that free-floating feel of the skewer you get on higher end models, and makes final adjustment a bit touchy. But this is a minor issue for those not easily annoyed and looking for a good value.

El Greco Bicycle Ceiling Hoist

I recently purchased and installed the Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist for my mountain bike. After reading the the reviews of other hoists from Rad and Racor, I chose the Delta because it had the least negative reviews. Most of these negative comments were related to the supplied mounting screws. The screws are typical Asian-made hardware, not the best in the world - but the screws supplied are not defective. With the proper drive tool, they can be easily used. They are Pozidrive screws, they can be driven by a Phillips driver, but it requires care to properly align the driver with the screw drive recess. If the driver is allow to move off center to an angle while apply drive torque, the bit will easily "cam out." To successfully use the supplied screws, a proper screwdriver must be used. Most people, myself included, do not own Pozidrive tools. I used a #3 Phillips bit in a cordless drill/driver and had no trouble with the screws. However, if you're not comfortable with this, or don't have a #3 Phillips driver, then it's easy enough to go to the local hardware store and buy some screws for under a dollar. As to the operation of the hoist after getting it installed, it works great. The bicycle raises fairly evenly (stays level) and the rope catch holds it securely in place once the bike is up. As another reviewer mentioned, it works sort of like a venetian blind type device. It's still wise to also use the supplied rope cleat to tie-off the excess rope as an added safety measure. I love the way this bicycle hoist works and am very happy with it.
