I think this is a great shoe. I just spent a week up in Southlake Tahoe and it's fine for routine hiking, but it's not waterproof so I ran into some trouble crossing some streams, but other than that, I love the shoe and it fits me perfectly. I recommend waterproofing the suede just to help propel basic moisture otherwise this is a great basic hiking shoe. I also like the rubber bumpers that are in the front and the rear of the shoe which helps protect the foot.
