TL;DR If you’re buying any black shirts, I would highly recommend soaking and handwashing before sticking in a full load of laundry at the risk of ruining the load. I love my Culture Kings shirts. They are genuinely some of my favorite pieces in my wardrobe. HOWEVER, in 20yrs of buying black tshirts, I have never had fabric that bleeds dye the way these shirts do. After washing on cold, and having a whole load of laundry unexpectedly and poorly tie-dyed, I soaked the shirt in a vinegar and water solution to try to help set the dye. When I tell you the water was black after an hour, I mean BLACK. I then hand washed the shirt and scrubbed it for no less than 10 minutes with soap before the water showed any signs of diluting. I then resoaked it in a vinegar solution, left it overnight, and the water is still dark. I have also had their black shirts transfer dye to my skin, even after multiple washes. Also, I reached out to support to see if they could help or if I could get a discount to repurchase the shirts from the same order - the ones that were ruined by the black shirt - and was told, essentially, “tough”.
