I’ve purchased two Cockpit USA M65 field jackets over the last year. Given the price of these jackets compared to the options available, purchasing a second jacket provides testament enough as to their quality. For those wondering why I needed to purchase another… I purchased a smaller size the second time around, to have a nice form fitting jacket for warmer weather, ie no liner or wearing bulky layering underneath. My first was an XL for use in cold weather, my second was a medium which works great for cool, but not cold weather. I wear the medium with no liner and just a light shirt underneath. I like the style of these jackets enough to want to wear them though-out the year so two sizes makes that possible.

When it comes to the appearance, this jacket will be the focal point on you when you wear it. Comfortable and runs a little bit big, so you can wear anything from thick sweater to suit underneath. If you choose to wear something thin, it will still look tough and cool. It is thick and long, yet one can manoeuvre quite easily in it. Leather is soft. Yes, it is worth it.

This is the highest quality leather jacket that I’ve ever owned and probably ever will. Having worn the original re-issue 1987 version of the A-2 flight jacket while serving in the USAF, I was seeking a vintage-style example. The iconic Mustang A-2 jacket with its fatigued goatskin was exactly what I was looking for! Lastly, I cannot say enough about the customer service at Cockpit USA. After inquiring about the Mustang jacket with Matt Aguirre, he first sent me a leather swatch that exceeded my expectations and then he hand picked the jacket off the rack that had the least number of stray markings so I I could work on adding my own markings to this tough jacket with wear. Absolutely amazing customer service!
