Dickson's Asheville Oven
The materials provided were of good quality and the instructions generally complete. We purchased package #1 which I think was an excellent combination. If I could ask for one more addition to the instructions it would be details on building a proper fire and, especially, heat management of the oven. Assembling the oven was an interesting and fun experience.

Great oven and enjoyable project!
I had a great time building the Cortile Barile! Most definitely one of the more enjoyable DIY projects I've ever done. I had some issues getting the molds properly packed with refractory, and my top section came out with big chunks of the mounting flange missing. It turned out to not be a problem though. Customer service responded quickly to my questions, and I was able to fill the voids with high temp mortar so everything came out fine. I'm very impressed at how much heat this oven holds, and how long it holds it. I fired it up last night and the surface temperature was about 850 degrees after an hour. After a couple hours with the fire burned completely down to ash and a few glowing embers it was still nearly 600 degrees in there. I shoveled the embers out to do some baking and the temp dropped to about 450, but it stayed there for a VERY long time. I checked the oven 6 hours later and it was still around 350 in there, and that was after 7 hours of having no fire or embers in it whatsoever. Even in the morning, 15 hours after removing the embers, it was still around 150. Truly amazing! I highly recommend the Cortile Barile. I honestly don't see it as a two weekend project - it's a lot of hard work manipulating heavy bags of concrete, refractory, stucco, etc. - but I took my time with it and enjoyed it as I progressed. I'm really looking forward to that first pizza party once we master the art of cooking in it!

Exactly what we needed
Adding this made a world of difference in the oven. The inside is really hot and the outside is now cool to the touch.

this is the second oven we built the only difference was the added blanket, works great I added a gas line to the back to light the wood that way you don't use lighter fluid which is not good

Couldn't ask for a better product
This kit was perfect, the materials list to the instructions to the finished product , nothing was left out. The best result was the first pie to come out. Since then because of the heat retention we've cooked multiple pie's then put in some baked bean pots and a covered casserole dish for the next days meal . I couldn't have asked for a better product Thank you

Restaurant and Brewery spectacular addition!!
People love it, cooks a pizza in less than 2 minutes to perfection. At least 2 people a day ask who made it or they say" That oven must have cost you a fortune" To us its not just a pizza oven, its a work of art. Thanks BrickWood Ovens. Pics coming soon.

Some Construction Tips
This was a great project and I'm very happy with the results. I purchased the Mattone Barile Grande - Package 3. For me this was not a 2 weekend project (more like 6 weekend). It was a lot of work but if you follow the excellent instructions very carefully and take your time, you will end up with a great oven. I do have a little masonry/construction experience so that helped but honestly, I think anyone with the desire can do this. When building the base you WILL need help picking up the three concrete pieces of the hearth slab (see the instruction and you'll know what I'm talking about). I did not have help with the hearth slabs so I ended up building a little wooden crane using a winch and pulleys - I don't recommend this unless you're totally desperate or you have death wish. If you don't have four strong people to help place the hearth slab pieces then I recommend building a form and pouring in place - that takes a little more experience. I've used the oven several times now and the pizza are turning out great - takes a little practice to slide the pizza's in to the oven without having them stick to the peal. Watch a few Youtube videos to avoid destroying your first few pizzas - key words: semolina or corn starch. One last recommendation - if you buy an oven door like the one I bought with this package (which I really like) I recommend replacing the oak wooden handles with metal. The first time the door gets too hot (which for me was the first time I used it) you will find the screws loosen up or come out completely. I ended up welding rebar handles on mine (looks rugged). If you offset the metal handles enough (and/or add insulation) they won't get too hot to hold. I hope this information helps! Jim D. Woodland, WA

Found a great contractor
We were concerned about this project taking all summer based on travel. Our contractor did a fantastic job and worked with us on some design mods. Starting the break in tonight, will have pizza before father's day. Will send a few pics soon. We are very pleased with appearance and expect good performance based on other reviews. We have many anxious neighbors.

BRICKWOOD OVEN INSTUCTIONS
The instructions for building the oven have been as close to perfect as you can get. Everything goes smoothly if you follow all directions. The foam form worked well. The only con I found is the price of the oven door, chimney, and cooking tools, seems a bit high. However if you want a great pizza oven, this is the way to go.

WOW
Wow, This has been one of the most rewarding projects I've taken on. Anyone with a little handy man talent can achieve the task. Directions are easy to follow with a little of interpretation. Its a lot of fun from beginning to end especially talking about the project with your friends. Everyone waits in anticipation, for the completion of the oven and the first pizza, witch was delicious. Good luck with yours. Thank you, Brickwood ovens Tony

Ceramic Fiber Blanket
Purchased the 6lb Ceramic Fiber Blanket to use on my wood oven project. I used the direction from the site to install with wire and mortar. Put a finishing layer of brick over everything and could not be happier with the performance of the oven. Heats up and maintains heat very well. Outer layer remains cool to the touch. Very happy with the product, its performance, and the directions available for its application. Thanks BrickWood Ovens.

Does the Job
Just the right brush\scraper for the job. I shopped around and the price was right. The quality is very good.
