Growing up in North Dakota, we had a “big coat” for when it got really cold. I shopped around and settled on this fantastic parka that’s big and warm without the weight. I walk in Minnesota and quiet winter nights and I’m so comfortable I my Askov Finlayson. I love the climate positive mission, too!

I recently purchased a women’s winter vest. To be honest, one motivation was the fact that it was half-price. I do find that the prices are beyond reach for many people. I received my vest yesterday and find the quality superior. The one thing that surprised me was that I ordered a large to feel safe that it wouldn’t be too tight. I it is quite snug at its base, but not uncomfortable or unmanageable. I am not a particularly large person so I was a bit surprised by the sizing. I was also surprised that it wasn’t down. For the price I assumed it would be. However, the warmth and quality like I said, earlier is superior. Overall, I am very satisfied and love my new best. Rosemary.

I spent way too long researching & shopping for parkas online before I landed on this one. It was between this Askov Finlayson parka, the Fjallraven Nuuk parka, and a Helly Hansen parka, but I went with the AF parka to be climate conscious & support a small MN business. It’s seriously beautiful, so warm, feels really high quality. Exactly what I was looking for in a parka at this price point. My biggest issue was finding the right size: I read through dozens of on-site reviews to get a sense of what people my build were ordering (I’m about 6 foot, average build, 185lbs). Based on reviews it seemed I should order a large. I tried to find third party reviews (YouTube, gear blogs, etc.) and found like 1 amateur video that didn’t help. 1 random article on the company and how Mark Dayton’s relative do-founded it. I visit MN 2x per year and there isn’t a brick & mortar store anymore to try on sizes in person. They have boutique partner stores that sell for AF (see their IG page, it’s not on their site) but they are REALLY tough to check inventory. I received the large via mail but it was BIG. It was hard to tell if it was too big or if that’s what I should expect in a warm parka, but my wife said I looked too puffy, and I felt like a tent in there (too much room). The lack of a physical store to exchange sizes and try stuff on burned me , as it was that week of -20 MN temps over Xmas and I was stuck with a subpar jacket for the weather in the interim (couldn’t wear my large and hope to return it). I exchanged my large for a medium (via mail) and the medium is nearly perfect. Height is great, perfect “snugness” with a comfortable amount of space for several layers if I wanted. My only qualm is the sleeve length. They are nearly perfect but I wish they were an inch+ longer for my height/wing span. If I put my arms forward, I get a littllllle too much wrist. I don’t notice it much until I put on my downhill ski jacket which has PERFECT sleeve length (as it should, it’s for...

I took a chance on this vest and am happy with the unique look and function of the collarless vest and makes it easier to layer without it. Insulation is warm and thick so it will be primarily used as an outer layer. Love the material difference at the hem, which I think should make it a bit more durable than the body material. I don’t think it has that phone service blocking pocket like the tag indicates though.

Hood and waist should be able to be adjusted. Today 1/14/23 it is windy inNew York, could not keep hood in place and the wind seems to be blowing right through. I have coats that cost less and are warmer.
