First off, the professionalism and promptness from Spring-Start support line is A++. Gave me the answers I needed to save time and money regarding my situation. As far as the product goes, It comes packaged with information walking you step by step in replacement. Not a hard job at all, 1-2 hours depending on skill level/setup. I installed the spring for my K24 R40 VTC on 08/19/23 and it appears to have solved the issues of VTC actuator rattle. I did not replace the Timing Chain Tensioner yet. The TCT is recommended to be replaced at the 100,000 mile mark. Replacing TCT is about 1 hour labor rate at shops. The OEM part itself costs about $70. I will have an updated review in January 2024.

Fixed the super annoying rattle on my 2015 honda fit. who know that a spring would solve all the issues and hours of dismantling per the honda instructions. Plus I like how i was supplied the torx bit. Very nice gesture for the VVT.

Thank you so much Dave at Spring Start Support. Your email support was well worth more than these springs cost me so Thank You so much again ! My 2012 Honda CR-V has 120,000 miles on it. So I ended up using the middle length spring that comes in the set of 3. I first put in the shortest spring which still made a little grind after sitting overnight upon start up. Like four days later I decided to put the middle size spring in and what a difference no grind at all ever now . On cold starts I can hear the VTC setting itself slightly into locking place but it is not that disturbing grinding noise that would last as long as 3.5 seconds sometimes. Make sure you get the locking pin out and clean it with emery cloth or scotchbrite pad make that piece spotless to move freely and oil it up.. So to do this job rotate your engine over once or twice to make sure you don't have any chain stretch its easy to do look it up these engines are known for chain stretching but mine was fine luckily. The crank mark lines up on a big arrow and the two cam marks face each other. If all looks ok go with this spring fix. Do a fresh oil change at the same times and a valve cover gasket with 4 dabs of silicone where the tiny seems are located also look up a video. Its been 19 days today since I did the job. All is good under my hood !

We have a 2014 CRV that developed the infamous rattle at cold start up and came across the Spring-Start spring solution. I contacted the guys from Spring-start.com and after a couple of emails I was convinced it was a legit company selling a legit product. They promptly answered all my questions. I ordered the kit for my Honda, and it arrived in 5 days. I tackled the job the next day. I took the valve cover myself (I am a mechanic) and proceeded with the repair as instructed on the product's direction chart. For those that prefer there are videos on YouTube that show how it is done. As of now, it has been 3 months since I performed the job on my car, and I never once heard the dreaded VTC noise again. Fixed that annoying rattle on cold start. Often garages will replace timing chain without solving problem then change VTC gear to fix. Save yourself a fortune and just replace spring, assuming that noise isnt actually stretched/loose timing chain rattle of course. Shipped to UK in just 1 week! Excellent service and delivery time. I finally got around to installing the Beta Kit on my 2013 Accord. The car has about 130,000 miles. The procedure went well. I went ahead and replaced all the valve cover seals with a Honda OEM kit since I was starting to get some oil seepage around the valve cover. I had no issues removing the 4 bolts holding the VTC actuator together, I used the enclosed bit and made sure to keep it perpendicular to the head of the bolt. My car never had a bad rattle at start up, On a cold start it would rattle for a second to a second and a half. Now after sitting overnight it has a ever so slight fraction of a second noise a start up. I am not even sure if i would call it a rattle. Thanks for all your support and answering my questions!

My 2015 CRV with 224 000 km had cold start rattle issue. Long story short: I did the repair and replaced the spring of my VTC actuator with their spring, following their instructions. The spring replacement went well, and their instructions are good. After the spring change, the length of the cold start rattle was significantly less longer. There was already an improvement, and I was happy with the result. They also suggest replacing the timing chain tensioner, because they work together, and they also have a spring that wears out. In my case, my CRV had a defective VTC spring and a defective timing chain tensioner. Their spring kit, combined with the timing chain tensioner replacement, did the trick. My CRV now starts like a new one. I am very happy to have chosen their product. I did the spring change during an afternoon with my dad, and I went to Honda for the timing chain tensioner replacement (I was not comfortable for doing it myself). With their spring kit, I saved a lot of money, and unnecessary procedures on my engine. I already run more than 4000 km with the car since the spring change and everything runs great. As a mechanical engineer, when I first hear the rattle, I did a little research out there trying to learn more about these issues and what kind of solutions there are out there for all the DIY’s like me.
