As a retired contractor I rate RC Energy as one of the most professional firms I have worked with. They are a long established local company and their bids were very cost competitive. No extras were necessary and their staff outstanding. They have installed a new electrical panel, a new roof and a solar system. All work was completed expertly and on time. The system was designed to generate 10,000 Kilowatt Hours per year to supply all our electricity needs. Their design was spot on and we reached this total two weeks before the end of our first year. We will enjoy a modest refund from our utility company. A marvelous feeling. I found this company as a result of personal research and had no contact with them prior to obtaining bids for the work I needed nor am I receiving any compensation whatsoever for this review. They have my highest recommendation.

Excellent work. We did replacement windows, new attic insulation, and an attic solar fan. The whole crew did meticulous work - Kenny, Christa, Vlad, Tyler, Alex, Jose. I evaluated several contractors and am glad I selected RC.

RC did an incredible job replacing the paper under our roofing tiles. The guys got here each morning on time and worked throughout the day. They were neat and professional and made certain that our yard was cleaned and swept each night before they left. Ivan and his team completed the job in a week just as Justin had estimated. RC also did a great job removing and replacing our solar panels with minimal downtime for us. We couldn't be more pleased and offer our highest recommendation for Justin and his company.

This review is long over due. Last year, these guys saved me from moving forward with another company, before things got too far down the wrong path. In summary, the other company was telling me everything I wanted to hear, but taking shortcuts left and right and hoping I wouldn't notice that they were. Justin and Ken came in at a crucial time and informed me of my rights and helped me to make a clean break from the fraudulent company. I got a new roof and solar with RC Energy almost a year ago, and I couldn't be happier with the results and continued check-ups from them on how I'm liking the new roof and solar performance. Justin's team and subcontractors are very responsive and friendly. We love our remodels and solar system. When we started this project, we took 5 quotes. RC is by no means the cheapest but they were the most responsive and helpful. Justin helped us with finding a person to do a VA refinancing to include the cost of the home repairs and the solar system. The whole project consisted of patio repair, roof repair, bathroom remodeling and the solar system. Each project was done satisfactorily and on time. The transition from one project to the next was smooth and seamless. Our electricity bill is now so low, with summertime actually on the negative. It's only been since April so I amī looking forward to seeing next year's true up bill. I would rate Justin and his team 4.5 overall.

This spring I got three bids to repair/replace a flat roof that had a leak. All three companies said I needed to replace the entire roof, which was a 30 year old metal Decratile roof built over cedar shake (no longer to code). All three bids were similar, but only Ken from this company took the time to actually go up on the roof, and check the attic to make sure there was plywood sheathing under the original cedar before giving me the bid. Based on his thoroughness and a personal recommendation from a contractor friend who had used their services, I went with RC Energy. All three companies warned me that the earliest they could do the work would be July, which was fine. I chose a reflective "cool tile" Corning asphalt roof. My home is about 2200+ sq. ft., plus garage, which required 30 squares of roofing, including repair and replacement of the flat portion between the garage and house, replacement of some dry-rotted fascia and sheathing, and removal/replacement of my solar thermal pool heating. That came to $24,465.00. The company also installed 20 solar panels (Silfab, made in Canada), replaced the electrical panel with a new one, re-stuccoed around the new panel, paid for SDGE inspections, and cost of Solar Edge monitoring system. That amounted to $23,850. Cost of roof and solar can qualify for the 30% tax credit, since any company I had asked for a solar bid previously would not put the panels on my Decratile roofing. All the work was done well, the installers were polite and cleaned up the area well, and my contacts at the company (Ken, Justin, and Christa) were all responsive to any questions or concerns I had. The only slight negative was the company they recommended for the solar loan, SD Metropolitan Credit Union, was very unresponsive, and after checking their Yelp reviews, I opted to use my HELOC to finance the solar, rather than deal with them. The company also encourages using ygreen loans, which my tax advisor did not support.

I want to add another great review for RC Energy and call out some of the folks for great work. We have a typical Carlsbad stucco 2 story home built in 1992. We get enough of a breeze that homes in our (almost coastal) neighborhood are 50/50 whether they have AC or not. I wanted to stay without the operating cost of AC, so I chose to improve the thermal performance of the house with new windows, blown in attic insulation, and a solar attic fan. I met with tons of contractors and chose RC b/c Kenny knew what he was talking about and the price compared fairly with all others too. Sales: Kenny was great during the sales process. Explained all the nuances with various energy products. He listened to my needs and was flexible with working with some of the unique specs I wanted. In the end, I chose to go with LE3 dual pane Argon windows. Christa was very communicative with scheduling and always kept me posted. Window install: You need to get Vlad and Tyler to do your window installs. They work great as a team together and are nice guys. Busted out the demo and install in two days (31 windows). I specifically noticed how careful and deliberate they worked, whether navigating around furniture/electronics or moving the new windows into place. They paid lots of attention to the finishing touches (cleaning and sealing). Attic insulation: I had weak insulation from the codes back in 1992, maybe only 4 inches so I wanted to add another foot or so. Alex and Jose arrived on time to blow in the new insulation. They ran a hose from their truck up through a 2nd story window and into the attic. They were very careful moving their equipment around the hallway so as not to ding anything. They also paid attention to not mucking up the new carpet and kept their work on the drop cloths. New insulation took about 30 minutes and it looks like I now have a vast sea of insulation up there now, something like 1.5-2 feet thick. They even paid attention to get to the hard to reach corners of the ...

Had our roof done, patio repaired and insulation installed. Excellent job. Justin communicated well before during and after, making sure the work was going to be done according to what we wanted, making sure it was being done according to plan, and ensuring our satisfaction afterwards. No complaints. Very happy with the work. Would do business with them again.

My husband and I were are very pleased with the staff and work crew of RC Energy Solutions. We were kept informed routinely when work had to start a bit later than originally estimated, and the work done and materials used were clearly explained to us. We aren't interested in solar at this time, and there was no pressure to invest in it. I'd watched them work on another large job in our neighborhood and knew they were hard workers and on the job every day. They finished removing the old roof, repairing and replacing rotted wood where needed, and installing the new roof in about 3 days. There were three different crews, all three of them highly qualified, diligent and professional. The first one worked hard to remove the old tiles and roof within a day. The second one did the main body of work, building our new roof with such skills and attention to detail that even a layman could see the quality of work and product. This part took about a week. Okay, so after they've received a couple less-than-perfect reviews in the last week or so, it's finally time to speak up (on yelp) about the incredible kick-ass business that is the RC Energy Solutions team. We were kind of a hard sell a little over a year ago, but our due diligence has paid off. We wanted a system that 1. Could cover most of our SDGE bill 2. As a creative designer, not look like it stuck out like a sore thumb. I didn't want to see solar panels from the front elevation. 3. Was considerably less costly than it's competitors quotes. We just paid our first "true up" bill of $183, and considering what a rainy winter we had, we find that incredible. #1, check! You can't tell from the front of the house that we have solar panels, and from the rear elevation the color blends in with our roof color, no ugly bright silver grids. #2, check! We compared 3 other highly rated solar companies to RC ENERGY and Justin obviously wanted our business more than the other guys. #3, check! What I didn't expect is for them to monitor our system. They've been out here 2 or 3 times to get the router back online, they notified us before we realized it ourselves. This was due to our living in a remote area where wifi is iffy. The system was never down, just the monitoring. Upon installation they notified us they put a 2 holes in our patio cover and came back out within a few days to fix. They kept the grounds spotless, I know, because we had 4 dogs at the time and I walked the perimeter every day after their work to check for debris. They also installed rain gutters, and solar attic fans which they included in the total solar ticket =bigger rebate. With the rebate we were able to pay off $10500 of our solar loan, leaving us with a $203/month payment for the balance. Our electric bill was $300-400/month! This has been, by far, one of the best, most feel good financial decisions we've made and we feel so lucky to have found this little, local company with (at the time) 9 five s...

This company does pool and electric solar as well as new roofs. I asked them to take a look at my very old pool solar and in the process they said that they also do roofs. My outside had termite damage and had some roof leaks and the house is 30 years old. These guys are terrific, They ended up redoing my old tile roof and replacing the damaged wood after I had the house tented. They were very accommodating to my requests, explained things clearly and did a first class job, far better than the original roofer. Not only that their price was very competitive. Unless it is too late for you, suggest that you call them and have them come out to give you a bid, for a new roof or solar. You will be very happy with this company.

Since my first review we sold our home and purchased another home 11 miles away. Of course we were spoiled with our incredible energy efficient former home we had to call Justin and his team again. Yes, we are two time solar buyers with RC and I have to share that the experience the 2nd time around was just as incredible as the first. Justin came out to inspect our new, larger home to give us a quote. We needed not one but 2 air conditioners, a new furnace and of course we wanted a solar system that completely made our SDGE zero. BUT, I wanted my net payment for everything to be the same as my SDGE bill....he did it again! The job was much larger but I had the same smooth experience. Dan his project manager was outstanding with communication and I was never once inconvenienced. Every contractor should take lessons from these guys! To take it above and beyond, this week our neighborhood had a power outage which fried our new water heater that RC installed a year ago with the solar system. I text Justin and within minutes we had his great team to support our challenge and he helped us get everything back on track. Who does that?? We are talking about a full year after my job is paid and complete, they still jump when I text and care about our discomfort. Dan even made his way out here to make sure the solar system was back on line and working perfectly after the outage. If you are looking for solar, quotes are important....but the service during installation and AFTER can be more valuable than saving a few dollars. Just cannot say enough about these guys. RC Energy Solutions installed our solar system about six months ago and we couldn't be happier with the experience...from the initial contact and installation process through current system production! We contacted four different solar companies, two of the big 'solar lease' companies and two smaller local companies (including RC Energy). Very glad we chose to go with these guys, it proved to be a great decision. Justin and the RC Energy guys were extremely friendly and easy to work with and we really have nothing but positive things to say about the entire process. They completely answered all of our questions during the initial discussions and they've been readily available for any questions that popped up after the install was complete. Very responsive and my calls or e-mails are responded to within minutes or hours, definitely the same day. I would highly recommend RC Energy Solutions if you're thinking about going solar. The process and technical information can be a little overwhelming at times but Justin and his team really made it a lot easier and definitely worth the time and money spent.
