Bought 4 of these TAB SM57's from ZenPro. They are a very nice improvement over the stock 57 - especially for overdriven and high gain guitar. They remove some of that nasty fizz, and also open up the bottom a little. As always, Warren is great to deal with. He always gives suggestions and recommendations, which are spot on, and ultimately has the best setup (Clipalator) for hearing differences yourself. I've purchased a significant amount of gear from him (compressors, eq's, ribbon mics, preamps, an interface, etc.) and have never been disappointed. Shipping is quick, too.

I upgraded my audio interface last year to a Focusrite Clarett+ 4Pre which has amazingly clean analog to digital circuits but... only 41dB of gain, and my main microphone is a gain-hungry dynamic, the Electro-Voice RE-20 Black. I had to set the gain on the internal preamps way too high just to get adequate levels, and this raised the noise floor as well, to unacceptable levels. With this preamp I have up to 80dB of gain and after some experimentation I found 65dB of gain to be the sweet spot for my mic. And the sound!!! is so nice, warm and full and round, thanks to this pre my voice finally sounds good in my headphones, and it sounds like me!
