I paid for a rush service from Scholaro for validation of a Veterinary degree and PhD diploma to apply for a US federal job. Scholaro advertise a two-day turnaround if you just upload the relevant documents (my degree certificate, a link to my thesis, translation of my degree certificate because someone thought it’d be fancier in latin, my transcripts etc) but of course it turns out not to be as easy as that. A Scholaro rep reached out via their internal messaging system the day after I paid to let me know I need a HEAR (Higher Education Achievement Report) and it needs to be sent directly from my university. I got this message around midday because of course, all their email notifications go to spam. I graduated before they invented this new kind of paperwork and of course Scholaro didn’t provide any information as to what this document they require is so once I’d spent my lunch hour figuring what a HEAR is and how to request one be sent directly to Scholaro I’d already burned a day. So already a two-day turn around wasn’t happening (but Scholaro will mark your order as ‘on hold’ until you provide those extra documents, so I imagine the clock for 48 hours is put on pause too). You can’t call Scholaro to talk to the assigned person verifying your degree, you can only email via the generic help email. They don’t respond quickly. The chat function on the website is responsive during working hours, but it’s not one of their Evaluators answering the questions, so they can’t help you with specific inquiries. Since once of my degrees would not be verified in the stated timeline, Scholaro’s offered solution was to cancel the order for that degree, and finish the rush on the other (they wouldn’t just do the other degree while we waited for the university documents for the first, so it was do this or keep the entire order on hold). I got my partial refund but of course, if I still want that degree validated/verified, I had to pay for it again with another rush if I wanted it...
