This is a powerful, fast, reliable, heavy-duty machine. If you need an economical stationary edger, I could not recommend another one. The boards just go sailing through it. It can handle about any flitch that comes off the mill with 16. 5" between the blades and 25" max flitch width. The specs say that it can cut 2. 36" thickness, but if you need to, it will cut thicker than that. It can cut almost 3" without modification, but a 3" will probably gam. At that thickness you can afford to put that flitch back on the mill to edge. I have edged 10s of thousands of board feet with no mechanical breakdowns. The only finicky thing about it is that if you turn the power off with the blades at full width, the setworks need to be recalibrated the next morning (which only takes 10 seconds). This may be partly due to our unstable power supply. Other than that, the setworks are a very fast and accurate way to position the blade. It can handle at least 1,000 bf/hr. You will want a strong 6" suction for effective dust extraction. You will want a dedicated MD400 or a half of a MD500 based on my experience.

I noticed that these blades are so sharp that you can almost cut all the way threw the metal log supports, where as the stock blade barely made it 1/3rd the way.
