While the sulfite filter itself appears to work, I am extremely disappointed that there is printed ink directly on the filter while wine is actively passing through it. That means the wine is coming into contact with the printed material during the filtering process. Customer service told me the ink is soy-based, but that does not address my concern. Soy-based ink is not the same as organic or toxin-free, and soy crops are often heavily treated with pesticides. I do not want any type of ink or printing contaminating something that comes into direct contact with food or beverages. Their explanation was that the printing is necessary because competitors were copying the product. However, each filter already comes individually sealed in its own branded wrapper, which should be more than sufficient for identification and anti-counterfeiting purposes. Putting any type of printed contaminant on a product designed to touch consumables is, in my opinion, unacceptable and irresponsible.

Have just given it a go on an average bottle of Pinot noir. Compared one sample of non ullo'd wine against ullo. Definitely a better taste to the ullo wine.
