This is very handy to have. Much easier to use than the adapter boot that comes with the Iridium radio for charging. It makes it easy to be sure you have a spare charged battery ready to go, since you can leave a battery in this charger all the time without it being overcharged.

Worth It
I consider myself a capable outdoors person. I endeavored on a 2 week long camping trip on the eastern slopes of the Canadian Rocky Mountains. This meant being off grid (no cellular service) for approximately 80 kms. Therefore there is no help other than the map and approximate coordinates left for family, which means bad things can happen. Inmarsat was excellent. I made calls every evening to left my wife I had not be carried off by a bear, wolf or cougar. Once the unit had a GPS fix, I had my bearings, satellite connection was simple. The direction of the antenna was important on the start of the call but this seemed to be less important on future call made from the same location. On the way out met a group that had an injured man and needed to get him out asap. Called for help and 35 minutes later a hi angle rescue was completed via helicopter. This happened to a group, imagine being alone. I put my faith in this device and service and I was not disappointed. Thank you for the very useful safety device to add to my equipment list.
