I’ve only had my Oakham for a week, but I’ve worn it every single day since it arrived. The first thing you notice is the quality of the fleece. It’s not that thin, scratchy stuff you find on the high street; it feels substantial and incredibly soft against the skin. I took it out for a long walk over the weekend, and while it’s surprisingly light, the way it holds your body heat is impressive. The Alcantara trim around the zip and collar isn't just a style choice either, it gives the gilet a bit of structure so it doesn't just hang off you. It’s already survived a muddy dog walk and a trip to the local, and it looks just as smart as it did when I took the tags off. It’s early days, but the fit is spot on and the warmth-to-weight ratio is exactly what I was looking for. If the first week is anything to go by, this is going to be my go-to layer for years to come.
