The charcoal is more faded in person than in the product photography, lighter than I'd like, though I expect it to age well. The fit is great through the chest, but the midsection could be trimmer. The length is excellent. It has kept me dry through a proper storm and plenty of drizzle. I wouldn't wear it for more than a few minutes in a real downpour, but that isn't what it's built for. Because it's unlined, it's a great transitional-weather piece, and it works just as well over dress shirts as with chinos or jeans. I have two design wishes: adjustable sleeve tabs, and a throat tab to close the collar in heavier rain. For a coat positioned as a functional raincoat rather than a gabardine trench, both would make sense. Overall, it isn't perfect, but it's well made, genuinely useful, and squarely in the Mac tradition.

Despite that I'd not been able to test it in bad weather conditions, the appearance of the fabric is amazing, as well as the construction details. Sizing had been a litle bit tricky, as I went to one size up and lately back to my normal size (it fits bigger than other purchased pieces). That size exchange was managed smootly and with great support of customer care. The reason for my rating is the fact that the piece had been delivered without the Loro Piana label inside. A minor detail but at these level of quality products, those mistakes cannot occur.

Easy ordering. Cap, scarf and an overcoat (returned) arrived in perfect condition. Excellent service. Swift refund for the returned overcoat, which was beautifully made, but didn't feel quite right on me.
