A well presented rulebook. Hardback cover and a bound bookmark ribbon. There’s a good amount of gang background that precedes the rules. There are plenty of specific items relating to Van Saar. There’s a couple of pages of hobby with colour photos of the range of miniatures.

Hi there friend, come and sit a spell and let me tell you about the Citadel Painting Handle. The Citadel Painting Handle is a simple plastic knob with a mounting platform and a set of sliding clamps, designed to hold your Warhammer miniatures while you paint them. Of course, it doesn't have to be only Warhammer models. See here, this is a Fantasy Flight Games Star Wars Imperial Assault model I have on it and look, it is being held firmly in place while I paint it. It also means I don't get my big, greasy fingers all over the model while I'm painting it. So I don't rub off any of my carefully applied paint from a previous layer. It works great. The mounting clamps work by pulling apart two spring-laden sliders which allow for 3 sizes of bases (25mm, 32mm and 40mm) to slot in between them. But there is enough spring in those clamps to hold a variety of similarly sized bases and other sizes inbetween. Notice how the handle fits comfortably in my grip? Safely nestled in the hand you normally use to hold the miniature, while your talented dominant hand is free to apply the paint and create your artistic magnum opus. Okay, so what can I list as the pros? Well, for me it means I don't have to mess around with any Blu-Tack or White Tack to stick the model onto something; when the model is locked in place by the clamps, it's not going anywhere; more ergonomic than other holders I have tried (so no more painter's cramp - "The claw! The claw!"); the screw for the mounting clamp is the same size as mounting accessories for camera equipment (maybe a bit of random info there - but who knows, maybe you need a cheap and handy mounting handle for your vlogging camera). The cons - there is a trick to getting the models in and out of the holding clamps, this may take two hands... not too much of an issue for me but I mention it for those speed painters who want a ton of models on and off the handle in record time. This is a Games Workshop board game, so it is never going to be the most strategic of games, but it is a fun dungeon crawl with excellent production values. The minis are obviously the main draw and they are great, plus you get a decent number of them. The gameplay is simple enough for the players’ turns and controlling your explorer is fun, but the game can slow down during enemy activations which can be annoying when you are waiting for your turn. All in all, though, this is a solid product and one I am happy to recommend.
