The dials are beautiful and excellent quality. The recipient was very pleased. I had expected the carrying case to be made of a sturdier material, hence the less then 5 rating.

The Kala Pocket Sundial is a nicely crafted instrument and visually appealing. Learning to use the device isn't difficult and measurements result in reliable, accurate readings. In the United States, when we use Daylight Saving Time, the reading will be an hour off. A disturbing situation if you forget about DST but very reassuring when you remember.

I really like my sundial. Its very well made and interesting. It's ingenious how it works. The only thing for me was the lettering is too small for me to see even with my reading glasses on. I will look for a small magnifying glass to keep with it. It's fascinating how it works. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in the mechanic's of it and how it works. I also got the case for it. It wasn't as good as I expected it to be though.
