A Missed Opportunity to Showcase Mongolian Hospita
I brought a group of 13 tourists on Jun 15/2026 to the Gobi Cashmere flagship store expecting a premium shopping experience from Mongolia's leading cashmere brand. Unfortunately, the customer service was extremely disappointing. The sales ladies appeared indifferent and uninterested in assisting customers. They rarely smiled, made little effort to engage with shoppers, and gave the impression that helping customers was an inconvenience rather than their responsibility. When assistance was requested, the responses were often minimal and unhelpful. The lack of English proficiency was also a major issue. Given that Gobi Cashmere is a flagship store that attracts international visitors, one would reasonably expect staff to be able to communicate at a basic level with foreign customers. What disappointed us most was not the language barrier, but the attitude. Good customer service is about being welcoming, attentive, and willing to help. Unfortunately, our group felt neither welcomed nor valued as customers. That said, I would like to recognize one staff member, Ankhbary. B, who stood out from everyone else in the store. Out of the entire team, he was the only person who could communicate well in English and he was consistently helpful, professional, and willing to assist. He made a genuine effort to help us and significantly improved our shopping experience. Gobi Cashmere would do well to have more staff with his level of customer service and communication skills. Several members of our group commented that the staff behaved as though they did not need our business. While the products may be excellent, the customer experience fell far short of what one would expect from a flagship store representing a national brand.
