I received this Curls and Volume Scalp Toning Tonic by &Goodies for free in exchange for an honest review.First impression from a professional consumer; the aesthetic of the packaging is cohesive to the complete line. I enjoyed its smell of Menthol and wondered if that is why the packaging is a Blue Green color. Packaging wise the container is easy on the eyes, simple to use and it doesn’t seem to have a difficult time coming out of the bottle.From a licensed cosmetologist point of view; this scalp tonic has potential. Although I do not suffer from scalp issues except the occasional dry scalp if I leave my braids in too long. I wonder how this scalp tonic would work on clients who have minor to major scalp issues. I applied this scalp, tonic by separating the hair, spraying in various locations, then taking my fingertips and massaging it in with circular motions throughout my head. I felt this was the best way to allow the product to fully coat my scalp, in the hopes it would be absorbed through the pores.

As a licensed cosmetologist over 20 years, I’d like to try new products that I think that work best for my curly hair, clients, and myself. I have naturally wavy hair and looks pretty curly when it has the right product in it. I have an oily/dry scalp. First of all, the packaging is simple and beautiful on the shelf. The smell is decent. It’s not overpowering when I apply this all over including my scalp. I did not notice it weighing my hair down at all as a gave, a tingly sensation on my scalp, which felt very nice. When scrunching the my hair with the product, It gave a fuller affect. This is a great additive to refresh your curls as I don’t wash my hair daily I wash it about every three days. This product is something that I would recommend to them to give them body, define, and freshen up their curls.

I’ll be honest…I’m fairly new to the idea of a scalp tonic but I was excited to try! What I noticed is that it’s similar to a volumizing spray, but this one seems to have added benefits such as strengthening and encouraging the hair’s natural metabolic process. I do love that this spray is lightweight and doesn’t leave behind any residue on the hair like similar sprays I’ve tried. This product did a great job of adding lift without making my hair frizzy and unkempt which is easy to do with my texture if I’m not careful. I’m interested to see what long term benefits (if any) will come from consistent use of this product. I’m big on “less is more”, so I can’t see myself using this in my routine much personally because, while I noticed a slight enhancement, my hair is already voluminous enough without it. This would likely be more beneficial to someone whose hair needs more help with volume.

As a licensed cosmetologist for 2 years, I have used a plethora of scalp tonics. This tonic was okay. I do appreciate that it has essential oils because I recognize how powerful they are and I love that they are naturally sourced. I did notice my scalp did feel refreshed and very clean which is a great feeling to have right after cleansing your hair. I appreciate that the tonic contains salicylic acid as that helps with oiliness of the scalp throughout the week. Something I would have loved to see was some more ease of use with the bottle. I have seen tonics with a dropper bottle, nozzle, or even sprayer that requires less force to get product out. I struggled most with trying to spray this while specifically targeting my scalp. I'm pretty sure I got more of the tonic on my strands than my actual scalp, hindering the possible benefits I could get from the product. Overall, I want to be able to target my scalp better.

I am a licensed cosmetologist specializing in skin care and pro make up artistry for over 25 years. I have used a lot of hair products in the past, but I’ve never used a hair scalp toning tonic. I was very happy to try &Goodies; scalp tonic. I applied it to my freshly washed hair. I made sure I parted my hair in sections. It said to use 2 to 3 pumps but I must admit I used closer to six. I wanted to make sure I got my entire scalp. I massaged it into my scalp for a good minute, it felt like water and had no distinguishable scent. I was a little disappointed because I loved the way the hair mask smelled. I thought maybe the tonic would also have the same essential oils. I waited about a minute and that’s when the sensation of a cooling effect took place. I love the way it stimulated my scalp, and it actually felt like it was doing something. I did not rinse it out and my scalp and hair did not feel greasy at all. My hair felt slightly fuller and I will say thicker. I plan on using this every time I shampoo or even just when I wet my hair. I recommend this for all hair types as it does not weigh the hair down or dry it out.

I am a curly girl but always blow dry straight. I have found it hard to find products that sculpt my girls properly. The molding paste defines my frizzy hair into loose yet bouncy girls. I would have never thought to use such a product for this purpose. I will definitely be wearing my hair curly more often.

Everything was SUPER fast! The packaging was very cute. You could tell care was put into putting everything together, and that's awesome... makes you feel special, ya know. My one critique is on sustainability! With so many options for biodegradable packaging, it was a bummer to see packing peanuts, especially since I was receiving products in plastic containers...
