I bought my Draumer 5. 0 XL two years ago and loved it so much I had to buy one for my wife as well. I highly recommend the Fjol LW sleep pad, and the Skjold 10 tarp, for a complete and comfortable backwoods experience.

I picked this tarp up to give me an option if I wanted a larger one for my Draumr 5. 0, but mainly to carry along on my group trips. This will replace my older, smaller tarp. On rainy arrivals at camp, we set the tarp up first to allow my my ground dwelling brethren to assemble their tents out of the weather. After shelters are up, it becomes our hang out spot; it is so nice to be able to sit together sipping beverages and telling ridiculous stories. The tarp packs away easily enough, although it seems a bit like wrestling an octopus when it is wet! I appreciate that Amok includes the seam sealer with the tarp. Although they claim it may not be necessary, I do not take the chance and have used it on the original tarp that came with my Draumr as well as this one. Better to have and not need than to need and not have!

I have used many hammocks since moving from tent camping to hammock camping. The Dramur by far my favorite hammock. Not only is it comfortable (being able to adjust the pressure of the pad to fit your comfort level) being able to move around and pick the position you lay in is amazing.

My only regret in purchasing the Amok system was not having done so years ago when I first started looking at them! The price tag was my hesitation but, in hindsight, the 100-day trial period means you take no real financial “risk” in ordering the system and simply trying it. I have taken mine on two canoe trips, both within the trial period, and will definitely not be returning it — instead, I have added to the system! I originally ordered the Ultralight mattress and it was perfect until I had a night at 5C and was cold. By then, I was otherwise thrilled with the hammock system so I simply ordered the Winterlight mattress to add to my collection so I could modify to my needs, depending on the forecast for any given trip. Perfect solution! For me, the Amok system replaces many pieces of gear on my canoe trips — tent, tarp, Thermarest, chair, casual hammock with bug net — and makes campsite set-up and take-down much simpler and tidier. My pack is also smaller and lighter now. The best part is the comfortable sleep, though, especially for a side-sleeper. The nature of the material of the UL version is also really nice for being able to see 360 degrees around you, especially if you are hearing an unusual sound in the forest behind you! As many have said, there is definitely a learning curve in setting up and using the system but just a few nights out on a trip allowed me to figure it out quickly and by the end of my first trip, I had it down to a fine art, although I’m still not always graceful in getting in and out of it… Amazing, versatile product that I would highly recommend to anyone!

As per Amok customer service, I ordered the Fjol LW for my Amok Draumr 2. 0. I have tried every possible adjustments and applied many tricks that other Amok Draumr users recommended to me (every inner pocket, no pocket, every level of inflation). In he end, the recommended pad simply DOES NOT WORK with the 2. 0. The sides of the pad on the foot end CURL UP around my feet, ankles and calves. I wasted my $$$ money.
