We did extensive research before we short-listed District Energy as our top three and then selected them based on numerous recommendations by neighbors about Tarek Azar's outstanding service and professionalism. Right from the very get go, Tarek was extremely punctual to all our meetings, highly responsive to all my questions over email, and very clear in his presentation of costs, output, financing etc. He also took care of all the requisite paperwork and documentation etc. We also chose District Energy because it was one of just two installers that install Sunpower panels, which we wanted, and their price was the most competitive, all factors considered. To be honest, I was dreading the day of the installation but it was a quick and smooth process from start to finish. The noise was minimal and the installation was seamless and quite beautiful to see. We had also installed a new roof a few months prior and DE's parapet system also ensured that the installation didn't negate out roof warranty. Additionally, when we had issues with our original roofing contractor and a skylight installation that was not completed as planned, Tarek came to the rescue and found a skylight contractor, pulled the requisite permits, and his sub-contractors did stellar work from start to finish including installing the skylight and performing all the interior work including drywall repair and painting. I consider myself a highly organized person and I am generally frustrated by most contractors' lack of dependability, punctuality, professionalism, and work ethic. In contrast, Tarek and his team were such an absolute joy to work with and he checked in on the progress every step of the way. I cannot recommend District Energy highly enough (and given that I am quite an OCD person, this should be taken as high praise indeed!) and Tarek is definitely the best of the best in this space. I have not been disappointed. The installation went very smoothly, they system operates well and they have continued to be very responsive to my questions. I highly recommend District Energy.

I got multiple offers and did several Zoom calls and chose District Energy because they seemed to have the best quality solar panels and the best long term installation approach. They were fantastic to work with. They helped me get my roof replaced when we found there was no insulation for $3000 less than the other offers I received. They played Tetris on the roof to work around our skylights and fit in as many panels as possible. We just finished our first full half year with our solar panels, and they produced 16% more than expected, saved us about $750, and produced 6 SREC credits.

FIVE STARS! District Energy was recommended by a neighbor, and we are happy to have used them. Tarek was accommodating and easy going from the very first conversation; answered all questions, adjusted our design based on our preferences, and dealt seamlessly with all regulatory requirements (historic-arts boards, L’Enfant Trust, etc). The timeline was exactly as he had predicted, and all was installed and working as he had described. Afterwards, whenever I had random questions (mostly relating to SREC trade), he responded immediately. Highly recommend!

From start to finish, District Energy was fantastic. They dealt with the entire process, including historic review and permitting, which made everything smooth and easy. The particulars of our install required some special work to mount the panels at a lower sightline, and they knew exactly what to do and how to do it.

We worked with District Energy to install solar on our row house, and would highly recommend them. District Energy explained all benefits and options very well and we were totally on board. We got a 9 KW system with 25 panels installed (max we could fit on our roof). District Energy provided a good balance between cost, the type of panels used and how much solar energy we needed to produce. We had a couple of challenges that we asked District Energy to figure out. One was that our roof top AC condenser was in the way and had to be relocated and the other was that we didn�t want to block our two roof top skylights. In both cases they figured a way to work around. Also, our house had wire grounding issues, which they discovered and addressed. Our rowhouse also had shared walls that were uneven. They addressed these issues as well. We are thoroughly happy with District Energy, the SunPower system and the install and have appreciated that they figured quick solutions to some of the unexpected challenges. The system is working well and we can use the sunpower Phone app to monitor production. On average we pay $24 a month over the year; in the summer and spring months we are getting credits and paying zero. We are also receiving over $350 in SREC payments per month. It�s a pretty cool setup. Tarek does a great job explaining everything. Highly recommend buying solar in DC from District Energy!
