After initially ordering the Artist cello, I upgraded to the Virtuoso. Todd and Evan (and anyone I’m forgetting) we’re an absolute joy - easy communication, and they put my fears of buying such an expensive instrument online to rest. BUY WITH TRUST and CONFIDENCE I recently purchased the Artist violin OUTFIT for my 18-year-old Niece. The outfit included the Artist, a bow and a case. The package arrived in good shape, the violin, bow – It all looked great. A week or so later, as I was preparing to present it to my niece, I noticed two of the small resting feet on the case were damaged. I called STRINGWORKS and asked them to PLEASE send me two of the little case feet with installation instructions. Much to my surprise, they sent me a new case and suggested I donate the damaged one to anyone who might need a case.

I was "window shopping" the StringWorks website, when a window popped up asking whether they could be of any assistance. I told Todd I was looking to replace my 15 year old cello. After texting back and forth, I decided to purchase an special edition artist cello, Hoffman bow and padded case. During the time between my purchase and the cello's arrival, I was in contact with Evan, who found the perfect cello for my needs. Within 2 weeks, my cello was delivered. It came perfectly packed and even in tune! But, more important, the tone of this cello is amazing. I am, at best, an intermediate cello player. This cello makes the music I play actually sing! I enjoy practicing for the first time in my life.

I bought this violin one year ago and I couldn't be happier. This was originally recommended to me from Taylor Davis, a violinist from YouTube who inspired me to pick it up again after years of not playing. The violin itself is very easy to tune and has great intonation (especially in higher positions). As the name suggests, the Crescendo violin has a higher tone to it so if you're looking for a deeper, more somber sounding instrument this is not it. I find composers like Mozart or Vaughan Williams to be great matches on this violin as their pieces stand in contrast to the darker side of classical music. But I'm speaking from my own experience (which is not a lot). Anyway, I would recommend this violin to any other student violinists or violinists looking to purchase an instrument of this caliber. It's also important to mention that its sturdy as I travel a lot with it, however, if you plan on being on the move, I'd recommend getting a higher quality case elsewhere instead of the $50 starter case that came with mine. Improve your kit as you see fit, of course. All in all, I look forward to continuing to get to know this violin and maybe I'll return to this review in another year to see if my thoughts have changed. I hope this has been helpful.

i found this website while i was looking for a used cello last year. I was so new to cello, so i went to another company who I used 20 years ago when i was taking violin lessons. The new cello I bought last year was good but i had to make several adjustments: changes 2 strings and lower the bridge. I need to buy a decent cello for someone so i was again shopping for a cello. I found StringWorks has quite a selection for used cello ( i am always looking for something not too expensive). After speaking to the owner, Todd, i was convinced that i need to try his cello and bought a new Maestro cello. It is beautiful and is actually easier to play than my old cello. I can right away tell the difference between these 2 new cellos. The bow that was recommended to me also is easier to play than the codabow i bought last year. I am happy to find StingWorks. I am also grateful that they have helped me with the path of learning cello.

My husband order this beautiful cello as a gift for me. It was and still is a great gift. My cello instructor was greatly impressed with the quality and sweet sound. I highly recommend this cello. It is not only nice to look at but the rich tone fills the air.

I had been playing the "Artist" cello for my first year of lessons. As a beginner I was delighted with the sound and quality of the instrument. But as a musician having played piano, flute and guitar my ear knew there was better sound to be had. All it really takes is a couple licks on your teachers' $11,000 instrument and you're left longing for richer lows, crisper brighter highs and better string action. I didn't have to consider whether or not I would be sticking with this. It sort of started out on a whim but after 13 months I'm all in. So, time to buy. The "Virtuoso" is just one price point above the "Artist" but it truly sounds like so much more. The low notes on the C and G strings are beautifully warm and rich. The sympathetic vibration from it's body seems to resonate forever by comparison! This cello will be with me for a long time to come. And Stringworks has a life long customer to be sure. Purchased a Maestro Violin about 4 months ago and I still love it! Its a wonderful, bright violin that is quick on response with a nice full sound. Imo, after comparing this violin with other ones in the same price range from different shops, the pricing on this violin is feels just right. Btw great customer service and keep up the great work StringWorks!
