The kukicha and shincha are some of the best I've had! The deep, umami bittersweetness of the Chashi Meijin shincha really leaves a wholly satisfying impression with its rich notes that will surely please any tea lover. The Kukicha on the other hand had a pleasant, light roast that brought out the earthy and fragrant flavour of the tea, absolutely unparalleled. As magnificent as the teas were, what impressed and moved me the most about Kimikura Tea was their level of service. I'd like to give a shout out to Mitani-san and the team who were extremely helpful in resolving delivery issues I faced due to the pandemic, with my 1st shipment being turned away and returned to Japan. Upon alerting them of the matter, the team moved quickly, reassuring me while also putting together some suggested alternatives based on my preference. Kimikura Tea shipped another parcel to me with only a little additional cost that I paid to upgrade for the services of an express courier, so I received my 2nd shipment in a matter of 2 days thanks to their quick action. The delivery matter wasn't even Kimikura Tea's fault, but they were very considerate, thoughtful, friendly and helpful throughout, even including a personal handwritten note to apologise for the wait and the inconvenience, with a little complimentary yunomi (tea cup) as a little token (picture attached). As anyone who's shopped online knows, any issues with delivery or fulfillment can very quickly devolve into a gnarly nightmare if you have an unresponsive or uncooperative merchant. Kimikura Tea was neither, to my luck! It was thanks to them that something that is usually upsetting for any customer was neutralised as they took care of my needs and managed to handle the situation very resourcefully. I came across Kimikura Tea by chance while searching Japanese tea & teaware to order online from Japan. What I love about Kimikura tea is that they are based in Shizuoka where most my favorite teas I have tried are from. I love reading about their background story, how they started and what they stand for. I also love how easy it is to navigate their online shop, their kindness for helping me answer my many inquires, their unique selection of teas and tea wares. I bought myself 8 different teas to try, which I have not seen anywhere yet and finally purchase myself a very cute and tiny Nambu Cast Iron tea pot! Everything arrived fast, safe and sound. Very well packed and hoping to order more from the near future. I love supporting local Japanese businesses, especially during this difficult and uncertain times where we are not able to travel again for awhile. At least I’ll have a bit of Japan shipped to me in the comfort of my home.
