Presentation by Jean-Martin in Cranbrook via The Young Agrarians
Hi Jean-Martin, I really enjoyed your presentation; it was humorous as well as very informative. I purchased your book and found that having first seen and learned about how you developed your highly efficient systems during your presentation was a great complement to reading the book. I have also referred back to the pictures from your presentation (thank you for sending them out in an email) as I have been chatting with my husband about your approach to market gardening. Warmly, Cat

Victoria Workshop at Fernwood Community Centre
As a veteran organic gardener and often market gardener in Quebec and on now Saltspring Island I was hesitant about attending yet another workshop. It seemed a bit pricey. Well for the $75 i spent i came home with a pot of gold, especially so after reading the book which i purchased too The book fills in what JM presented within the time limits After almost 40 years of gardening and reading and studying, I now feel as tho I need no more references. Jean Martin has provided what I really needed and wanted all these years in one excellent presentation and book What a treasure.! Kudos too to the Young Agrarians for such good energy hosting this day!

a giant leap forward!
I saw Jean-Martin in a one-day workshop (I highly recommend his very entertaining talk!), and then took his book home to devour, which I loved. He writes in a detailed and clear manner about what he does, why, and how on his no-till, intensive, successful farm, all with hand tools and thoughtful design. Applying many of his methods and tools are going to take my small farm to the next level. For me, so many questions are answered, and in the detail one would hope for. I would recommend his book to anyone who wants to grow real food. Thank you!

Farming For Dummies 101
Awesome presentation and book! The detailed calendars and planning information makes following this system a no-brainer. It appears a bit daunting at first, but the book unravels the various layers into digestible pieces. I appreciated seeing the videos of the equipment in action. Worth every penny!

Great workshop! Learned a ton :)
I really enjoyed this workshop. I loved the technical information that was discussed and found Jean-Martin to be very good at presenting, not easy doing a whole day of talking like that but he was incredibly interesting and entertaining! Thanks again :)

Inspiring
Most of this was new information to me, and the presentation was very informative, inspiring and presented clearly. It acted as a good companion to what is in the book. Thanks Jean Martin!

Workshop Cranbrook, B.C.
Excellent workshop in Cranbrook two weeks ago. It was very inspiring. Just enough detail with the right amount of humour. We're backyard gardeners, but now want to do more!

Victoria, BC
Good morning I attended your presentation in Victoria. I traveled from Ucluelet, so it took three days of my time. So I was looking at the fuel, food and $78. I was hoping for something a bit more meaty I suppose. When ever we would get to an area where you could go into great detail, you would refer us to your book. Which makes me beg the question Why a $78 dollar presentation to buy a $25 book. Perhaps my expectations where too high. The other side of the coin is that I found you very inspiring and motivating.

Excellent Presentation
The Market Gardener workshop was wonderful. The information presented by Jean-Martin was all encompassing, well-organized and inspiring. The best part was that his practical (and successful) approach to farming is an inspiration to all small-scale producers that you can make a living as a farmer, not work yourself to death and still have time to enjoy life and pursue other interests.

The Market Gardener...an absolute must have for the small farmer!!
An amazing book that covers everything you could think of ....from planning to design, to soil preparation to spacing, fertilizing, cultivars, harvesting, storing and more! And best of all, he describes how to follow through on each and every step of the way. The book is full of common sense ideas for expediting and saving time. Jean Martin carefully, thoughtfully methodically walks you from the planning days of winter to seed catalogs, to the garden, to the market and back. A gem of a book......revolutionary!!

A highly powerful resource!
This book will start a revolution, mark my words! I've read it front to back and in the hands of the right people will flip the agricultural scene on its head. Look out, the future is organic!

Highly Recommended!
I've always been a fan of Eliot Coleman's work, but have wished for a revised edition to The New Organic Grower (which is almost 20 years old). Jean-Martin has taken Eliot's basic principles, added his own personal "tips of the trade," and updated it with all the latest tools and knowledge. This doesn't replace The New Organic Grower, but is a perfect compliment and addition to it. I predict this book will empower a whole new generation of market gardeners. Very practical and readable. Impressive results from a small space!
