Was looking for a more durable umbrella here in rainy Vancouver. I heard about this local company designing an "unbreakable" umbrella and thought to try it out. Comes with a life time warranty too but didn't have to use that yet. So far so good!

I received an umbrella in a color I would never use; Hedgehog sent me a canopy to switch the color out and all I was responsible for was the $5 shipping fee. Fantastic customer service, and great umbrella.

I bought one of these umbrellas from their Kickstarter campaign, (or maybe it was indiegogo, not sure) and i loved it! I eventually lost it during the summer (before i even knew about the UV canopy) and was pretty let down, but as soon as i saw that they sold it with a TRACKER i knew i had to have it and bought it before the week was over. Living in Texas, you dont usually need an umbrella for the rain (will get a UV canopy soon for sure), but i sure am glad to know i have one just in case it does decide to rain or if i need to fend off attackers (havent been able to test it yet, unfortunately). Awesome umbrella, but i would add that maybe a slightly bigger one wouldnt hurt! Good job to everyone on the team! You made an umbrella with one hell of a high bar to beat!

Gave one to each of my kids for Christmas. Haven’t experienced inclement weather to date but just looking at the construction and quLity of materials, the hedgehog seems pretty sturdy. Also hedgehog mistakenly sent me the wrong color and within a day of my email, the company sent me a replacement canvass with no issues! Awesome. Definitely want to buy a couple more for my husband and myself.

Having received my first Hedgehog umbrella and been extremely impressed with the execution and quality, I ordered a second for my wife. Unfortunately, while trying to demonstrate how well it could cope with up-draughts to her by pulling it toward me sharply, I managed to catch one of the corner rods in the crack between a door and its jam and snapped it. To be clear, this scenario falls entirely into the domain of user stupidity and in no way could be construed as normal wear-and-tear or a defective product. I communicated the above to Hedgehog Umbrella, admitting freely that the damage was entirely my responsibility, and tried to pay for a repair. They would have none of it and shipped me out a new frame free of charge. Talk about a company that stands behind their product - I cannot recommend them enough.

Funny how so many website reviews are from Vancouver. I guess it's no surprise that the Pacific Northwest will be a big market. :) My spouse had lost my previous favourite umbrella from The Umbrella Shop in Vancouver - which has since shuttered due to retirement - so I looked for another brand. After some research, I decided to give Hedgehog a shot. I bought the Gen 2 Carbon frame in bright sunshine yellow at preorder discount pricing half a year ago. Love the colour of the canopy. Really helps combat the perpetual gloom of the rainy season. Canopy size is pretty standard, like a regular men's umbrella. Weight is also pretty similar to my previous automatic. Love the non-stabby tips so I don't have to worry about poking someone's eyes out. Structure and components feel substantial and well made. Even my spouse was impressed. Have since tried this out in pretty darn windy conditions (not exactly sure on the numbers, but windy enough that some people decided to forego opening theirs). The Hedgehog got jerked around by gusts but held up really well. After half a year, I'm starting to notice some dark scuff marks on the cover from being toted around in my bag, so I imagine the same will happen to the canopy fabric if you walk under tree branches a lot. Luckily, you do have the option of changing it. I may end up buying one with a pattern or the UV type at some point, or perhaps if they offer 3M reflective fabric. To be fair, I should also note the things I don't like about it. When folded, its diameter is 50% fatter than a standard umbrella, and sometimes I don't want to bring it because it's big. Not sure if it's by design, but when I hold it (when closed) by the handle only, the weight causes the middle strut to fully lengthen. On the plus side, that does keep me from dripping on other people while on transit. I would personally prefer a slightly larger (10-20%) canopy size to cover my backpack, or make it easier to cover two people, but I understand that's not wh...

Overall easy to use...hard to open at times when the umbrella is wet. Would have preferred it to be lighter. Suggestion for next version, make the fabric more repellent, like how water rolls off a car’s windshield so the umbrella dries faster and carries less water.
