Make space for this paddle in your rotation
Been waiting to receive my Green Alecto and got it today. After unboxing, was impressed by the welcoming rich color of green paddle. Beautiful design, wasn't sure of the winged logo when I first saw the pictures however in real life it is beautiful. The weave pattern of Kevlar and Carbon Fiber in green and black is eye catching, has similar look of Pickleball Apes Proline series paddles -- just different and vibrant colors. Also the paddle felt so light both in static hold and as well as during the play. It weighed at 8.1 Oz but it felt way lighter during the games, the swing weight of 115 really helps it feel lighter than what it is. Folks, this paddle is a poster child to demonstrate why swing weight out weighs the static weight. The relative lower swing weight also attributes to fast responses during the fire fights inspite of it's higher twist weight of 6.7. I rotate between Velocity Apex and PBA PLS and transitioning to Alecto felt very natural. I let my spouse and another friend borrow it for couple points/games and both of them were impressed with how light it felt. Ground stroke power was good, serves felt okay, perhaps a bit subdued but the paddle shined bright in terms of pop and at kitchen shots. I was able to generate very good spin and the feel is very plush (Kevlar attribute). Resets were great and the hybrid shape allows for a broader sweetspot. The grip felt fantastic, especially the size. This was my main gripe with my main paddle but with Alecto, it just felt right for my taste. Based on the two hours of play, the paddle felt natural, only thing I need to work on is that I often caught myself on the wrong side of paddle (deciding between chicken winging or adjust to take it on forehand), this is more of technique adjustment on my end than the paddle itself. While there is adequate control I might try tweaking by adding some lead tape at 4/8 pos, it doesn't need it but it feels so light that why not experiment! Overall, this will be in my regular...
